There are too many characters in Yowamushi Pedal that find their own personal balance and relief by being submissive to abuses and folding immediately before assertive and agressive people. Even Funatsu. He complained a bit last episode, but the more he learns about the abuses pushed upon him by Midousuji, the more eager he is to submit and accept the abuses. And even, to admire to abuser. Yamaguchi ends up rebeling, but the only way he can rebel is by being willfully submissive rather than passively submissive. As if he couldn't conceive life without someone to tell him how to live. This is what he calls 'living in the shadows'. This actually means obeying others in order not to have to bear the responsibility of making his own decisions. Because to Yamaguchi, who never make any decision for himself can never be wrong. And letting others decide for him is confortable. This kind of absolute cowardice. That is disgusting to me. The author is japanese. I know that the way japanese people see conflicts and hierarchy is different from us in Europe. But i hope all this is not based on actual japanese social logic. That would be dreaful.
so what was the purpose of that Midosuji?
not yet I guess? Considering this dude style, he should find a place in the first place competition later no matter what.
i'm assuming he was tryna crush their spirits so they wouldn't have the will to fight anymore through the shock, embarrasment and dissapointment of losing to their two worse members
if they shaved their heads, they wouldn't have any hair
I miss the omake at the end of each episode
LOVELY EPISODE!!
I feel the anime nerfed down Midosuji very bad. Usually, he would take an edge and win a bit more ground, now it feels like he is standing too much in the back of Sohoku and Hakone! I want to see him in the final race with Onoda and Manami as the 3rd neck-in-neck rider!
This episode brings another issue I feel regarding this "2nd generation" race. They try give some character development for the Kyoto riders, especially the seniors, but ultimately they don't challenge Midosuji at all, the conflict isn't exactly there, and Midosuji is still a one-man army (so far).
Teshima feels like a goddamn jerk for asking Aoyagi to keep pulling - especially at the end of the episode. Like don't get me wrong, I can see why he asked Aoyagi to give his 120%, because they really needed to win that, and the push tactic is honestly such a cheat I loved it, but now that they're with their team, he ask Aoyagi to pull the team along with the other two sprinters - when he could let him rest his injured knees.
we clearly saw that teshima was worried for him throughout the episode tho? and aoyagi clearly stated that he wanted to pull, teshima doidnt force him to do anything
noice
bullshit no pedal
